The police have arrested Narendra (64), a resident of Vishnu Garden, from Panchkula, Haryana, who was accused of killing an acquaintance’s wife 19 years ago in Paschim Vihar area of the capital Delhi for opposing the rape. Narendra was declared an absconder by the court in this case.
Police said that on August 27, 2004, information was received about the murder of a woman Praveen (35) in a flat in Paschim Vihar area. Praveen was strangled to death. Scratch marks were found on his chest and knee. Praveen was the second wife of Gulshan, who worked in All India Radio. It was learned through the servant of the deceased that Narendra had committed the crime. Since then no clue of the accused was found. A charge sheet has also been filed against him in the court as a fugitive. During investigation, the accused was arrested from Panchkula on March 10.
The accused was impressed by the beauty of the woman
The accused is originally a resident of Krishna Nagar, Delhi. After studying till seventh, he used to work as a salesman. He has one son and two married daughters. He knew Praveen’s husband Gulshan since 1997. Gulshan also lived in Krishna Nagar. After this Gulshan was shifted to Vishnu Garden.
In 2004, she met Gulshan at a wedding ceremony in Patel Nagar. There he came to know about Gulshan’s second marriage. Seeing the beauty of his wife, he was very impressed and started trying to get closer to her. He started living in Vishnu Nagar. On the day of the incident, he reached Praveen’s house, the servant opened the door. He sent the servant to the market to get some things. After that he started coercing Praveen. On protesting and threatening to complain, the accused strangled the woman and fled from there.
On returning home, the servant found the mistress unconscious and the accused who came home was absconding. The accused told that he directly reached home from there and went to Jammu with his family.
